Dernière mise à jour : 30 août 2018

According to preliminary expert assessments, the restoration of the wooden Dormition Church in Karelia that was lost to arson on August 10 will cost nearly $1.5 million (100 million rubles), reports TASS.
An official fundraiser for the church was launched a few days ago, the regional press secretary reports. Donations are being received by the Northern Spiritual Path charity fund, and several large donations have already been received.
Among the notable contributors is the Chechen Republic head Ramzan Kadyrov who received the news of the monument of Russian folk architecture’s burning with alarm and unease. He was moved to offer $14,855 (1 million rubles), reports RIA-Novosti.
“We live in a multi-national and multi-religious country. We have lived and live in peace and harmony. This is the greatest achievement left us by our ancestors. Therefore, no one has the moral right to just quietly observe and remain meekly silent when mosques and churches are desecrated… I have decided to transfer 1 million rubles for the account for the restoration of the church,” Kadyrov wrote on his Telegram channel.
